Welcome to SLPA

SLPA would like to welcome you to the 2007-2008 school year. For our new families, SLPA is a non-profit organization that is made up of St. Leonard Parents and Faculty.

Our mission is to :

·        Promote and enrich the education at St. Leonard School by cooperating with the church, school and local agencies.

·                To serve as a tool of communication between the school and the parents by

•  providing programs and informational events of practical value and interest to the members of this association.

·        To assist teachers in any area that would benefit the children's achievement academically, socially or emotionally.

The 2007-2008 promises to be filled with many fun-filled events such as Movie Night, Benefit Dinner Nights, Fun Fair, Mother/Son Bowling, Father/Daughter Dance, UniForm Exchange Program, Book Fair, Breakfast with Santa, Cultural Arts Program, and organization of St. Leonard Year Book and Directory.

We look Forward To Seeing You At These Events! The St. Leonard Parent Board

Check Out SLPA

Through out the year SLPA does many wonderful things that help enrich the lives of our children. Below you will find small descriptions of all the events and activities that we do. At any time in the year, you are welcome to come aboard!

·         Special Lunch-This provides a nice opportunity for the children to have a special treat. Lunches are       purchased from outside restaurants. In the past we have had Mc Donald's, hot dogs and pizza lunches.

·        Campbell's and General Mill Box Tops are collected throughout the year. The class with the most labels will receive a prize at the end of the year. In the past it has been a free pizza lunch! We are always looking for people to count and sort labels. Great job for working parents or young children.

·        Reading Program -Great America Tickets are earned through reading a certain amount of minutes. The students enjoy their ticket during the summer months. This is a great one to do even if you work or have young children.

·        End of the School Year Picnic - SLPA works with the school to organize and plan a Penny Carnival for the children to enjoy. All proceeds go to a local charity.

·         Book Fair -Each year the SLPA sponsors a book fair. This is a great opportunity for the children to purchase books and classrooms to expand their libraries.

·         Benefit Night- SLPA hosts benefit night once a month. A percentage of the night from St. Leonard families attending the restaurant goes directly back to school.

·         Room Committee Parent -These parents work with the classroom teacher and other parents to organize   classroom celebrations.

·         Bakers- This is a great chance to get involved even if you work. Look for notices to come home. We are always looking for yummy treats!

·         Room Mom-These parents attend and work the holiday celebrations. This is a great way to help out in the classroom.

·         Year Book Committee-This group of parents work hard with the upper classman to make/record memories.

·         Welcome Back Coffee -This happens on the first day of school and it is a wonderful way to meet/greet old and new friends.

·         St. Leonard Cookie Walk- All proceeds go directly back to the Cultural Arts Program.

·         Cultural Arts Program -This program was designed to bring fine arts into the school for all ages to enjoy.

·         Oktoberfest - SLPA has a booth to support the parish. Parents are asked to work a shift and sell/serve pizza, pop, etc.

·         Teacher Appreciation Luncheon - This committee of parents works together to show our teachers of St. Leonard how much we truly appreciate all the time and effort they put into their day.
