Grade Five
Vocabulary Sentences Expectations
- Choose six
of the 12 words and write six original, complete, and varied sentences
- Follow expectations for formal assignment
- Number sentences
- Skip lines between sentences
- Highlight, underline, or italicize vocabulary words
- Use vocabulary words correctly; okay to change form of
word
- Use of vocabulary words in the sentences should
demonstrate meaning (Refer to the pages at the beginning of the book for
examples)
- Do not start sentences with pronouns; he, she, I,
their, my, etc.
- Every sentence has to start with a different word; do
not use the same form of a word either (for example: a and an are
considered the same word)
- Apply grammar concepts appropriately
- Proofread for spelling, grammar, and mechanics (You
will be graded on this!)
- Use your Writer’s
Express book for help
- You’ll be given two weeks for vocabulary sentences;
Use your time wisely!!!
- For review lessons, you’ll be asked to write a
paragraph using as many of the vocabulary words as possible
