Saludos, querida familia parroquial.
Les escribo hoy con sentimientos encontrados, ya que me retiro de mi puesto en la parroquia Beato Miguel Pro. Hace casi 20 años, a mediados de julio de 2006, comencé esta jornada como coordinadora de Servicio y Misión en la parroquia St. Leonard, bajo el liderazgo del Padre Thomas McQuaid.
¿A dónde se han ido los años? Mi hijo cursaba el primer grado en la escuela parroquial y yo estaba al final de mis años cuarenta. ¡Ahora él lleva cuatro años de haberse graduado de la universidad y yo tengo esos mismos años más de edad! Lo que sí puedo decir es que servir a esta comunidad parroquial ha sido uno de los mayores regalos de mi vida. Ustedes han compartido su fe, sus luchas, sus esperanzas y sus sueños; y estoy profundamente agradecida de haber sido invitada a caminar con ustedes en esta jornada.
A lo largo de estos años, he sido testigo de cómo jóvenes y adultos viven su fe dando tutoría a niños y compartiendo sándwiches con nuestros vecinos en “Port Ministries”; de cómo los estudiantes de Confirmación y sus madres y padres han preparado y servido cenas deliciosas y saludables a los residentes de la tercera edad de la Residencia Bishop Goedert; y de cómo feligreses de la parroquia del Beato Miguel Pro han atendido a inmigrantes en la Misión de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles y en el Centro para Migrantes San Edmundo, en Oak Park. Asimismo, miembros devotos de nuestra parroquia han llevado la Comunión, con fidelidad y discreción, a nuestros hermanos y hermanas que no pueden salir de sus hogares. Éstos son solo algunos ejemplos de las muchas formas en que los feligreses de la parroquia cumplen el mandato de Jesús de amarnos los unos a los otros.
Con ese mismo deseo de encontrarse con Jesús, cientos de feligreses han participado en el curso Alpha, y muchos de ellos se han ofrecido como voluntarios para organizar estos cursos. El Espíritu Santo está vivo en nuestra parroquia, y me siento honrada y lleno de humildad al haber vivido este movimiento en primera persona. Estoy eternamente agradecido a Dios y a todos ustedes.
En este momento, he entendido que necesito dedicar más tiempo a mi familia. Así que, aunque amo verdaderamente este ministerio, Dios me llama a centrar mi atención en el hogar. A diferencia del Padre Alex, no me mudaré de la parroquia. Beato Miguel Pro es mi parroquia y vivo cerca. Tengo la intención de colaborar como voluntaria, tal como lo hacen tantos de ustedes, para contribuir al crecimiento de la parroquia. En otras palabras, ¡seguirán viéndome por aquí!
Mi corazón rebosa gratitud por haber tenido esta oportunidad. Las relaciones han sido recíprocas; ¡todos ustedes me han enseñado tanto sobre lo que significa vivir una vida llena de fe! Seguiré rezando por todos ustedes y les pido que recen por mí.
¡Que Dios los bendiga abundantemente!

“Rejoice in the Lord, always, again I say Rejoice”
Greetings dear parish family.
It is with mixed feelings that I write to you today, as I retire from my position at Blessed Miguel Pro Parish. Almost 20 years ago, mid-July 2006, I began this journey, as the coordinator of Service and Mission, at St. Leonard Parish, under the leadership of Fr. Thomas McQuaid.
Where have the years gone? My son was a first grader in the parish school, and I was in my late 40s. He is now 4 years out of college, and I am that much older! What I can say is that serving the community at this parish has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. You have shared your faith, your struggles, your hopes and dreams; and I am so grateful to have been invited to walk this journey of faith with you.
During these years I have witnessed teens and adults living their faith by tutoring children and sharing sandwiches with our neighbors at the Port Ministries; Confirmation students and parents have prepared and served delicious, healthy dinners to the Seniors at the Bishop Goedert Residence. Immigrants have been served at the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels and at the St. Edmund Migrant Center in Oak Park, by parishioners of Blessed Miguel Pro Parish. Devout members of our parish have faithfully and quietly brought Communion to our homebound brothers and sisters. These are just a few examples of the many ways that Blessed Miguel Pro parishioners carry out Jesus’ mandate to love one another.
With that same desire to encounter Jesus, hundreds of parishioners have participated in the Alpha Course, and many of those have volunteered to run the Courses. The Holy Spirit is alive in our parish, and I feel humbled and honored to have experienced this movement firsthand. I am eternally grateful to God and to all of you.
At this juncture, I understand that I need to dedicate more time to my family. So as much as I truly love this ministry, God is calling me to turn my focus to home. Unlike Fr. Alex, I am not moving from the parish. Blessed Miguel Pro is my Parish and I live close by. I intend to volunteer, together with so many of you, to help the parish remain active and growing. In other words, you will still see me around!
My heart is full of gratitude for having had this opportunity. The relationships have been reciprocal; you all have shown me so clearly what it is to live a faith-filled life!
I will continue to pray for all of you and ask you to pray for me.
